College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Third Annual Writing Competition for Law Students

 
The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is pleased to announce the Third Annual Writing Competition for Law Students.  It is the hope of the College that, through this writing competition, we can help to stimulate interest in this important field of law among law students on legal topics of interest to practitioners in the field.  The scope of permissible topics is broad i.e. any aspect of domestic public or private labor or employment law.  There are prizes for the top three entries with the grand prize being $1,500.
 
The deadline for entries is May 1, 2010 for postmarked entries and May 14, 2010 for email entries.

I. BEVERLY LAKE PRIZES

for Excellence in Constitutional Law
 
Deadline:NOON, Friday, February 5, 2010.
 
 
Each year, cash prizes are available for outstanding research and writing in Constitutional Law. If you are writing a seminar paper, law review article, or moot court brief that involves constitutional law issues, plan to submit your work to Prof. Margaret Currin, Honors and Awards Committee, for this year's competition.
 
 
Format: Five clean, unbound copies must be submitted to Prof. Margaret Currin by 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010. All papers must be typed, double-spaced, on   8½” x 11" paper. Do not staple or bind. There should be two title pages. The outside title page should contain the title of the paper, the author's name, and the designation I. Beverly Lake Constitutional Law Competition - 2009 -2010. The inside title page should contain the same information EXCEPT the author's name should be omitted. The author's name should not appear anywhere on the paper except on the outside title page.
 
 
Judging: A panel of judges will evaluate the entries. Past judges have included current and former members of the North Carolina Supreme Court and North Carolina Court of Appeals, as well as distinguished attorneys from across the state.
 
 

Awards: Awards are made from the proceeds of the I. Beverly Lake Scholarship Trust. The amount of the awards varies from year to year, depending on available funds and on the excellence of the papers. Past awards have been as high as five hundred dollars ($500.00). These awards are announced during the annual Hooding Ceremony or Law Day Banquet.

 
 
 

Liberty Mutual Prize

 
Boston College Law School announces its annual competition for the Liberty Mutual Prize, awarded for an exceptional article written during the 2009-2010 submission season on the law of property and casualty insurance, its regulation and corporate governance.  The winning entrant will receive $5,000 and an offer of publication from the Boston College Law Review.
 
The deadline for papers is February 1, 2010, though papers may be submitted throughout the year.
