Since its founding in 1961, the Christian Legal Society has been a growing national non-denominational membership organization, now consisting of over 3,800 attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students with over 160 law student chapters.

CLS chapters are located in over 1,100 cities, in all 50 states and 10 foreign countries, with thousands of supporter following Jesus' command to the lawyers, judges, governmental and church leaders in every generation:
"to do justice with the love of God."
Luke 11:42; Matthew 23:23.

Today, the CLS is a not-for-profit corporation. The Society's vision is to identify, equip and mobilize "a national grassroots network of lawyers and law students committed to proclaiming, loving and serving Jesus Christ, through all we do in the practice of law, and by advocating biblical conflict reconciliation, public justice, religious freedom and the sanctity of human life."

The Campbell CLS chapter maintains goals to:

  • Provide a means of society, fellowship, and nurturing among Christian law students
  • Encourage Christian law students to view law as a ministry
  • Clarify and promote the concept of the Christian lawyer
  • Develop a vision among law students for the legal needs of the poor and needy.

CLS works toward these goals through weekly Bible study in the evenings, and a coffee service at Noon on campus, to which all are invited. CLS sponsors a variety of community service projects. CLS also has extensive faculty and bar involvement.

The Christian Legal Society is thankful for the history of the Lord's faithfulness through CLS over the years, and we stand ready to serve as witness to our Lord's justice, mercy and faithfulness, through its multi-faceted activities in the years ahead.
