About Campbell Law Federalist Society:  The Federalist Society is a non-partisan organization dedicated to the core beliefs of the Founding Fathers – the state exists to preserve freedom, the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and it is the providence and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be -- that seeks to both promote awareness of these beliefs and to further their application through its activities. Events include debates, guest speakers and a trip to the Supreme Court.

The Federalist Society will be proud to host Attorney Robert Levy of the Cato Insitute, and most recently counsel of record for the Plaintiffs in Parker v. District of Columbia, which has changed names to District of Columbia v. Heller, also the "D.C. Gun Ban case," which will be argued on March 18, 2008 in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Attorney Levy is at the center of what promises to be the first case where the Supreme Court will have to determine whether or not the Second Amendment provides an individual right to bear firearms. This is indeed a landmark case since it will be the first time that the Supreme Court has had to comment on what the 2nd Amendment actually means since its ratification in 1791.

Mr. Levy will be speaking on the topic, "The full story behind D.C. v. Heller: from complaint to oral argument and thoughts on the outcome."

Please make every effort to attend this meeting, as I believe that you will enjoy the opportunity to meet an advocate working in the cutting edge of constitutional law. RSVP by March 21, 2008.
