  Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Reserve a Carrel?
Most carrels in the library can be reserved. Please contact the Public Serives / Reference Librarian for assistance.

Is It Safe to Leave Books and Other Personal Items in a Carrel?
Personal items should not be left in carrels or on tables. Items left unattended are subject to theft. Under no circumstances should students leave handbags, wallets, or personal computers unattended.

Are There Restrooms in the Library?
The restrooms are located just outside the entrance to the law library and in other locations throughout the law school.

Do Any of the Carrels Have Internet Access?
The law school is equipped with wireless network connectivity throughout the library, classrooms, and student areas. However, students must have a Campbell University account to access it. Additionally, a select number of carrels located on the first floor of Wiggins and all of the carrels located in the basement of Wiggins have wired network connections. Students with network ports in their notebook computers may access the internet at these locations.

Where are the Computer Labs?
The law library contains two computer labs. One is in the basement of Wiggins and the other is on the first floor of Kivett. These computers contain Microsoft Office and Corel WordPerfect and provide access to the Internet, electronic databases and printing. Computers in the labs are for use by law students. Students are not permitted to load software onto these computers.

Westlaw and Lexis are available only to students with accounts to those services. The law library does provide limited access to Westlaw for other patrons at the two computers located across from the Circulation Desk.

Are There Any Study Materials That May Be Helpful In My Courses?

There are various types of study aids located on Reserve and in the Classified Collection. The Library’s audiocassette collection contains Sum & Substance tapes and CDs that correspond with first-year law courses. The audiocassettes and CDs are housed in the Reserve collection. A maximum of two tapes or CDs can be checked out at one time. There is a two-hour limit per tape or CD.

Does the Library Have Old Exams on File?

Yes. The Library maintains a collection of Law School examinations from previous years in the Reserve collection. Most, but not all, professors contribute to this collection. The exams may be photocopied or used in the Library but cannot be removed from the building.

How Do I Check Out Library Materials?

A Campbell University student ID is required to check out materials. Your ID will be issued to you during orientation. Present your ID to the Student Library Assistant and he or she will check out the materials to you. If you forget your ID, you can give your name to the Student Assistant and he or she can check out materials to you.

Where Do I Make Copies?

The library has two photocopiers located in the foyer between Wiggins and Kivett Halls and one photocopier is located in the basement of Wiggins. Copies are 10 cents per page. Copicards may be purchased for $10 at the Circulation Desk.
