  Campbell Law School's 31st Annual Law Day

    

 

Campbell Law School’s 31st Annual Law Day to Feature Distinguished Alumni Brad Bannon and Lt. Col. Stuart Couch

WHO:                    Mr. Brad Bannon, a 1997 graduate of Campbell Law School is known for his work in the 2006-07 Duke Lacrosse case, which garnered national headlines. Bannon served as a defense attorney and ultimately changed the course of case events with his DNA discovery. He was also an expert witness during testimony that led to the removal and disbarring of former Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong. Bannon currently serves as an associate at Cheshire, Parker, Schneider, Bryan & Vitale in Raleigh.

WHAT:                  The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University will host Brad Bannon as the keynote speaker for the morning family portion of its 2008 Law Day.

WHO:                    Lt. Col. Stuart Couch, a 1996 graduate of Campbell Law School is a former JAG prosecuting attorney who refused to bring charges against Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a Guantanamo Bay prisoner linked to 9/11, because he thought the evidence was coerced by torture. Lt. Col. Couch received the 2007 Minister of Justice Award from the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section because of his actions and his story has been featured in The Wall Street Journal (March 2007) and on National Public Radio. Lt. Col. Couch currently serves as an Appellate Judge for the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals in Washington, DC.

WHAT:                  The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University welcomes Lt. Col. Stuart Couch as the keynote speaker for its 2008 Law Day dinner.

About Campbell Law School's Family Day/Law Day: The combined Family Day/Law Day special events provide an opportunity for the Campbell Law School community to celebrate its students' achievements as well as meet their family and friends. Renowned keynote speakers are featured, student award-winners are recognized and newly admitted students will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff. The evening portion will include a reception/dinner in downtown Raleigh hosted by the Student Bar Association followed by a live auction hosted by the Women in Law student organization.
