RALEIGH, N.C. – Chris Olson, a 2001 graduate of the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, was honored with the Litigation Award at the 11th Annual Defenders of Justice Awards held on October 8 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, N.C. The annual Defenders of Justice event is sponsored by the N.C. Justice Center.
First presented in 19999, the Defenders of Justice Awards honor those who have made significant contributions to North Carolina’s fight against poverty in four areas that reflect the scope of the Justice Center’s work: litigation, research and public policy development, and grassroots empowerment and community capacity building.
Mr. Olson works for Martin & Jones and has used his position to expand protections for North Carolina consumers. In two recent cases, he and colleague John Alan Jones (who was also honored) recovered tens of millions of dollars for more than 10,000 sub-prime borrowers who paid for costly credit insurance premiums. These cases paved the way to establish significant consumer protections for all North Carolinians.
“We are so proud of Chris,” said Dean Melissa Essary. “It’s wonderful to see the continued commitment of Campbell Lawyers to not only server their clients, but also their communities and, ultimately, the greater good for all citizens.’
