David Teddy (’88 Law) honored by Commission on Indigent Defense Services

RALEIGH, N.C. – The N.C. Commission on Indigent Defense Services (IDS) recently honored attorney David R. Teddy, a 1988 graduate of the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, with a new training award named for UNC School of Government Professor John Rubin.

The Professor John Rubin Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Indigent Defense Training Programs honors individuals who volunteer their time and effort to serve as trainers and who have done outstanding work on training programs for attorneys who represent indigent persons. Mr. Teddy is the award's first recipient.

Mr. Teddy is a partner in the firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, PLLC in Shelby, North Carolina. His practice is devoted exclusively to criminal defense with an emphasis on death penalty and DWI cases. Mr. Teddy is also a board certified specialist in North Carolina Criminal Law and the immediate past chair of the Criminal Defense Section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ).

“We are thrilled for David. This honor brings to light Campbell Law’s commitment to instill the importance of community service into each of our students,” said Dean Melissa Essary. “It’s an obligation we hope each Campbell Law graduate keeps with them throughout their career.”
