RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law’s chapter of the Federalist Society Law hosted a presentation by Dr. Roger Pilan, Founder & Director of Cato Institute, on October 7.
Dr. Pilan’s talk centered on the topics of unenumerated rights. Specifically, he spoke about the history of the creation of government and how such a great disconnect formed by the courts holdings came about between the actual U.S. Constitution and constitutional law.
“The connection between the U.S. Constitution and constitutional law is only occasional,” he said. Dr Pilan cited several cases and went on to explain how both conservatives and liberals are affected by this disconnect.
The mission of the Cato Institute is to increase the understanding of public policies based on the principles of limited government, free markets, individual liberty, and peace. The Institute pledges to use the most effective means to originate, advocate, promote, and disseminate applicable policy proposals that create free, open, and civil societies in the United States and throughout the world.
