Law Library Remodeled To Better Serve Students

In today's fast-paced and demanding environment, it is difficult to provide all the resources that our legal community requires in just one place. It is even more challenging to attempt to meet the many and diverse informational needs of our law students each day. Despite these challenges, the Campbell University School of Law Library endeavors to be a vital resource by offering outstanding service to law students, faculty and staff. Thanks to a recent grant from the Felburn Foundation, the Campbell law library was able to complete a full facility renovation.

Generosity of the Felburn Foundation helped to upgrade and refurbish the entire library. Its new look provides vital support, allowing it to meet unanticipated challenges and take advantage of special opportunities. The 28,224-square-foot space that houses 49,176 titles began renovations in July 2007 and was completed in just six weeks. As a result, the newly renovated Law Library was successfully open for the first day of class on August 14, 2007.

Aesthetic renovations were also a part of the construction. "The new paint, carpet, shelving, artwork and furniture were all newly installed to upgrade the sense of openness and peace. The Library has become a warm and inviting place for students to study.” said Director of Law Library, Professor Olivia Weeks.

"This law school renovation project is a tribute to the Felburn Foundation, the law school, and all the people who helped make it possible. I am grateful for this beautiful and serviceable facility which will aid every scholar of the law who studies here," commented Melissa Essary, Dean of the Law School.
