Campbell Law hosts minority students in partnership with local high schools

BUIES CREEK - Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law is pleased to announce it hosted 65 African-American and Latino students from three Harnett County high schools on Mar. 5. The event was part of the Law School Admission Council's (LSAC) Minority Recruitment month efforts.

Local schools represented were Harnett Central, Triton and Overhills high schools.

During their day on campus, students interacted with numerous staff and faculty members, who spoke to them about the importance of grades and the career possibilities available to them in the law field. After a tour of the Law School, students met with faculty members Russell Smith and Jon Powell, both licensed N.C. attorneys, who discussed their path to the legal profession and the work they did in their practice.

The students also worked on a logic problem in pairs, reviewed sample outlines and discussed a sample essay examination, before having lunch in Marshbanks Hall, Campbell University’s main dining facility.

The day concluded with a law student panel which featured two representatives from Campbell Law’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA), Jon Trapp and Erin Oliver.
