Campbell Law Announces New Senior Law Clinic Director

RALEIGH, N.C. –– Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law is pleased to announce the hiring of Roger Manus as Director of the new Senior Law Clinic. Manus has more than 25 years of legal experience in private practice and with Legal Aid of North Carolina, including many years representing the elderly and disabled. Additionally, he is connected with an extensive network of practicing colleagues throughout North Carolina and with many organizations that represent low-income seniors and those with special needs.

Manus will teach a course in Elder Law in the fall and will offer the clinical component to students in the spring. "I have devoted my professional life to the representation of senior citizens and persons with disabilities on a variety of issues including rights protection in long term care facilities and discrimination," said Manus. "’I’m looking forward to teaching students about the special needs and issues facing the elderly and watching them grow as they gain experience within the Clinic."

Manus received his B.A. from Macalester College, Phi Beta Kappa, and his J.D. from New York University where he was a Root Tilden Public Interest Law Scholar. He has published numerous articles and given scores of presentations on long-term care and disability issues. He has served as president of Friends of Residents in Long Term Care and has participated in a number of mental disability law reform cases. Manus has practiced in courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of the United States.

"Roger brings a sense of calling to this career change, and he looks forward to furthering the mission of our school," said Dean Melissa Essary. "This will be an exciting year for all of us, and we look forward to seeing the Senior Law Clinic come to life through the provision of experiential learning opportunities for our students in the form of directly serving the 'least of these'."
