BUIES CREEK, N.C. – William K. Suter, Clerk of the United States Supreme Court, delivered an address to 110 Campbell Law School graduates at a ceremony held on Sunday, May 11, 2008.
Suter has spent his entire legal career in public service. Prior to being appointed as the 19th Clerk of the United States Supreme Court in 1991, Suter retired as a Major General from the U.S. Army. During his time in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Suter served as Assistant Judge Advocate General of the Army, Chief Judge for the U.S. Army Court of Military Review, Commander of the U.S. Army Legal Services Agency, and as the Commandant and Director of Academics of the Judge Advocate General School at the University of Virginia. He received the Bronze Start and Distinguished Service Medal, as a result of his meritorious service in the U.S. Army. Suter obtained his B.A. from Trinity University and his law degree (LL.B.) from Tulane University.
