Campbell Law, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Announce Dual Degree Program

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law School and Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences have announced the establishment of a new dual degree program. The four-year program, which will begin with the fall 2012 semester, allows students to pursue and obtain a Juris Doctor at Campbell Law, as well as a Master of Science in Public Health from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences,” said Campbell Law Interim Dean Keith Faulkner. “The JD/MSPH is a powerful degree that will provide our students with an understanding of the intersections between law, health policy, and public health. JD/MSPH students will study topics including community health, health system reform, and policy research. This program will be a great compliment for those students seeking a traditional legal job in health law and will provide an alternative career path for those seeking careers in the health care policy and non-profit arenas.”

The JD/MSPH program provides students with a unique interdisciplinary perspective of law and public policy. Graduates will enter the workplace prepared to represent clients, health organizations or systems, and serve in leadership roles in health policy at the national, state, county and local levels. Prospective students are required to gain admission to both programs in order to pursue the dual degree.

“This specialized focus will give law students an in-depth perspective on health care and prepare them for advanced careers in health law and policy throughout North Carolina and beyond,” said College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Dean Ron Maddox, PharmD.

Campbell Law offers five dual degree programs - three with Campbell University and two with NC State University - in an effort to provide students with maximum exposure and preparedness for a wide assortment of career opportunities in the fields that continue to shape the economy. In addition to the JD/MSPH, Campbell Law also offers a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration program with both NC State University’s Jenkins Graduate School at the Poole College of Managementand Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, as well as a Juris Doctor/Master of Public Administration with NC State University’s School of Public & International Affairs, and  a Juris Doctor/Master of Trust & Wealth Management withCampbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business.
