Deborah A. Shandles


Deborah Shandles is an Assistant District Attorney for the 10th Judicial District, Wake County, North Carolina.  She is responsible for the preparation and trial of felony offenses, negotiation of non-jury resolutions, and the settlement of records on appeal.

Ms. Shandles has prosecuted complex white collar crimes and capital offenses.  She has headed the Drugs and Vice Prosecution Unit as well as having anchored the Dangerous Offenders Task Force, trying recidivist violent offenders. In addition, she has been cross designated as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, prosecuting narcotics, weapons, and money laundering offenses in the E.D.N.C. District Courts.

Ms. Shandles is a past president of the Susie Sharp Inn of Court, has served on the Tenth Judicial District Bar Professionalism Committee, and has lectured at NCSU, UNC, the UNC Institute of Government, and the Raleigh Police Academy.  She has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Campbell since 1993.
