Law students are eligible to participate in

  • Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL).
  • College Work-Study Programs.
  • Alternative loan programs.

In addition, the faculty has established an emergency loan fund to assist students who face unanticipated, severe financial need.

All need-based financial aid programs including loans, exclusive of faculty emergency loan funds, are administered by the University's Financial Aid Office.

All applicants applying for need-based scholarships and/or loans must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application is generally available in January, and should be completed and submitted to the School of Law's Financial Aid Office, as soon as possible.

Most law students will be eligible for Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Graduate Plus Loan, and/or a variety of private loans.

In addition to scholarship assistance, a variety of loan programs exist to meet the expenses related to law school:

  • Federal Stafford Loan
  • Federal Graduate Plus Loans
  • Loans from private lenders

A strong credit history is essential to borrowing private loan funds to attend law school. The School of Law encourages students to minimize borrowing, so they will face manageable repayment plans upon graduation.
