About Tessener: Tessener grew up in Shelby, N.C. After graduating Campbell University Law School in 1988, Hoyt went to work at the largest law firm in North Carolina, where he represented insurance companies and other large corporations. Tessener leads the personal injury section of the firm at Martin & Jones. He works on personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance fraud and products liability claims. Tessener has tried cases in all North Carolina federal courts and throughout the state of North Carolina. He is the past chair of the North Carolina Bar Association's Litigation Section and the North Carolina Association of Trial Lawyer's Auto Tort Section. In 1997, Tessener was chosen to attend trial lawyer Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyer's College and was then invited to join its faculty. In addition to teaching lawyers at the Trial Lawyer's College, he is a frequent instructor for continuing education programs and teaches jury selection to Campbell University Law School’s third year students.
