If you are thinking about attending law school next year, you may be looking at many websites of different law schools. You may be asking, “Should I apply to Campbell?”
If you want to become a great lawyer, apply. If you want a school that will focus on you and your future clients, apply. If you want to have the confidence to argue in court, negotiate business deals, or run a company, apply.
If you join us in the fall of 2008, you will have a remarkable opportunity to study your first year in beautiful Buies Creek, about 35 minutes south of Raleigh. It is quiet here, very conducive for immersing yourself in the language of the law. In the fall of 2009, our great school will relocate two blocks from the State Capitol in downtown Raleigh. Extraordinary opportunities for real-world experience will await you during your second and third years in one of the best cities in the country in which to live and work.
Campbell is a school on the move, but we will not forget its great heritage of producing lawyers who are making a difference in their firms, their communities, and their states. Our faculty likes to say, “We produce great lawyers, one at a time.” I think that statement reflects the personal touch you will enjoy here at Campbell, both in Buies Creek and in Raleigh. We are small by choice. We want you to excel. We want you to wear the badge of being a “Campbell Lawyer.” It is a high standard to live up to.
Let me give you a snapshot of the extraordinary accomplishments of our students. We have posted the highest overall bar passage rate in North Carolina for the last sixteen years. We have led the state for the last two years on the July bar exam, at 97% and 95% passage rates, respectively. In addition, students who graduate and take other states’ exams have enjoyed similarly high passage rates.
But it doesn’t stop there. This small school won a National Moot Court Championship this past spring, the National Civil Rights Competition held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Campbell defeated teams from “top tier” schools and also earned honors for the Best Brief of the 36 teams. This fall, yet another Campbell team won the Regional Finals of the ABA National Moot Court Competition in Richmond, Virginia, again winning the Best Brief Award and also the Top Oralist Award. They will soon compete for another national title.
The story of Campbell Law and the great lawyers it produces is far from over. We will be writing a new chapter in the State Capital of North Carolina. Are you still asking yourself, “Should I apply to Campbell?” Allow me to help with the answer, “Absolutely!”
