Area teams include the Carolina Hurricanes National Hockey League (NHL) team, the Durham Bulls and Carolina Mudcats (MILB) baseball teams, and the Carolina Railhawks (NASL) professional soccer team. Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams in the area include the North Carolina State University Wolfpack, Duke University Blue Devils, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels.
