A: The law school purchases caps, gowns and hoods for all learners. Once the regalia packages arrive, learners will pick them up from Career Services during the designated dates and times. Additionally, the Student Bar Association encourages (not requires) all learners to purchase a doctoral tam to wear in lieu of the mortarboard cap. Tams will be available for purchase during the grad fair on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
A: Graduation rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Memorial Auditorium located in Downtown Raleigh. Rehearsal is mandatory and only for graduates participating in the May graduation ceremony. Please bring your graduation cap and gown for the class photo, which will be taken immediately after graduation rehearsal. You do not have to wear them during rehearsal.
A: Each graduate will receive approximately 10 tickets for their guests. Tickets will be distributed, along with graduation regalia, by Career Services to graduates during designated times and days during the week prior to graduation. Graduation 2025 will be a large event. Guests should always consider their comfort and well-being in their decision to attend. Should they decide to attend, all graduation guests must present a ticket to enter, with the exception of children who will sit in someone’s lap. For those who may be uncomfortable attending a large event or are unable to do so, a livestream link will be made available to graduates during the week of graduation; graduates may share the link with friends and family.
A: Graduates are required to arrive at Memorial Auditorium by 8:45 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at the latest. Doors will not open for guest seating until 9 a.m.
A: There are several pay parking lots and spaces within walking distance near Memorial Auditorium. Directions and parking information are available via this link. Please be aware that there is a fee for parking in downtown Raleigh on a weekday. The R-line bus route features a stop near Memorial Auditorium, so you may park at the law school and take the bus on the corner of Dawson and Morgan streets.
A: This is a professional ceremony. Each graduate will be provided a flat mortarboard cap and a gown in their regalia packet; graduates will be hooded on stage. Graduates should wear dark slacks or skirts/dresses and dark shoes under their gowns. We also recommend dark, comfortable shoes. Mortarboard caps and tams cannot be decorated. See the university’s adornment policy below, effective April 19, 2023, by action of the Deans’ Council:
GRADUATION CEREMONY ATTIRE: Please be aware that approved ceremony attire/regalia to be worn by graduation candidates consists of the University issued cap, gown, tassel, hood (if applicable, purchased from the CU Bookstore), Latin honor cord (if applicable to be distributed by the Registrar’s Office), Freshman Medallion (if applicable) and approved graduation adornments associated with official university organizational membership. Specific to the law school: Please note that official university organizations are vetted through the Department of Registrar Services. Please see Assistant Dean of Student Life, Pro Bono Opportunities and Belonging Regina Chavis for a list of currently approved organizational attire or permission to submit a new request.
A: Graduates CANNOT bring personal items to the graduation ceremony due to a lack of storage space. In the event that a graduate must bring personal items, they must make arrangements in advance with a family member or friend to hold on to their items until after the graduation ceremony. Campbell Law School nor Memorial Auditorium will be held responsible for the loss of any personal items.
A: As mentioned, this is a professional ceremony, so it is advised that guests wear comfortable business attire.
