Graduation FAQs

Students, parents and family members are encouraged to review the answers to these frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us. 

A: The law school purchases caps, gowns, and hoods for all students. Once the caps and gowns arrive, students will pick them up from Career Services. You will receive your hoods during graduation. Additionally, the Student Bar Association encourages but does not require all students to purchase a tam to wear in lieu of the cap. Tams will be available for order and purchase during the grad fair.

A: Graduation rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 10, beginning at 11 a.m. at Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Attendance is mandatory for all 3Ls graduating in May. Please bring your graduation cap and gown for the class photo, which will be taken at 10 a.m., prior to rehearsal.

A: Each graduate will receive 15 tickets for their guests. Tickets will be distributed to graduates by Career Services at the time of graduation attire pickup. All guests at graduation must present a ticket to enter.

A: Graduates are required to arrive at Memorial Auditorium by 9 a.m. on Friday, May 11.

A: There are several pay parking lots and spaces within walking distance near Memorial Auditorium. Directions and parking information are available via this link.

Please be aware that there is a fee for parking in downtown Raleigh. The R-line route features a stop near Memorial Auditorium, so you may always park at the school and take the bus on the corner of Dawson and Morgan Streets.

A: This is a professional ceremony. Each graduate will be provided a flat mortarboard cap and a gown. Men should wear dark slacks and dark shoes under their gowns. Women should wear dark slacks or skirts under their gowns, as well as dark, comfortable shoes. Mortarboard caps and tams cannot be decorated.

A: Graduates CANNOT bring personal items to the graduation ceremony due to a lack of storage space. In the event that a graduate must bring personal items, they must make arrangements in advance with a family member or friend to hold on to their items during the graduation ceremony. Campbell Law School and Memorial Auditorium are not responsible for the loss of any personal items.

A: As mentioned, this is a professional ceremony, so it is advised that guests wear business attire.

A: Yes. If space for a wheelchair is needed, or any other special considerations, please contact the registrar, Dr. Connie Shipman.

A: The Student Bar Association will host an afternoon reception the day prior to graduation, Thursday, May 10, at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel (421 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh) from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, please contact Ayeshinaye Smith. Students generally prefer to dine on their own after the ceremony. The Downtown Raleigh Alliance provides a listing of restaurant options in the downtown area.

A: You may order personalized graduation announcements and class rings from Balfour online or by calling 1-877-225-3687. Both credit cards and checks are accepted. The Campbell University bookstore on main campus carries non-personalized graduation announcements and diploma frames. You can also purchase diploma frames online via the Campbell University bookstore. Campbell Law will also hold a Graduation Fair on Monday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pope Foyer.
