Gary Shipman is a 1980 graduate of Campbell Law School. Prior to Campbell Law, he earned his B.A. from UNC-Wilmington. He has practice law for more than 30 years.
Mr. Shipman began the practice of law at the age of 24, and founded his own law firm just two years later. His career has taken him to courtrooms all across the United States, handling a variety of cases ranging from catastrophic personal injury, complex commercial litigation, professional negligence and regional and national class actions involving defective products and consumer fraud, where he has served as lead or co-lead counsel. Recognized by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America (since 2007) and a Super Lawyer (since 2006), he is frequently called upon to provide lectures and presentations in continuing legal education seminars or at law schools.
Since 2008, Mr. Shipman has devoted a substantial portion of his practice to business reorganization and workouts, representing both debtors and creditors. He has extensive expertise in matters involving lender liability, representing both borrowers and lenders. More recently, he has been engaged as a consultant by individuals, businesses and investors in the acquisition or sale of a variety of asset types.
Mr. Shipman’s community activities have ranged from chairing a local political party to coaching youth baseball for more than 20 years. In 2013, he launched Atlantic Sports Management. He is certified as a contract advisor and agent by the NFL and NBA, and his sports clients include college and professional coaches, and professional athletes.
Mr. Shipman is married to an interior designer, Mary Jo, and they have three sons: Brandon, Khale and Bryc
