Hoyt Tessener grew up in Shelby, N.C. and graduated from N.C. State University. After earning his J.D. from Campbell Law School in 1988 he went to work at the largest law firm in N.C. Mr. Tessener focused on representing banks, insurance companies and other large corporations.
Mr. Tessener currently works at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. He has extensive experience representing people in personal injury cases involving serious automobile accidents, nursing home neglect, medical malpractice, fraud and product liability claims
Mr. Tessener has tried cases in all N.C. federal courts and throughout N.C. in state court. He is the past chairman of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Litigation Section and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice’s Auto Tort Section. Mr. Tessener served on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. He is a member of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
In 1997, noted trial lawyer Gerry Spence selected Mr. Tessener to attend his Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. After attending the college, he was invited to join the college faculty. Mr. Tessener is a frequent instructor for continuing legal education programs and teaches jury selection at Campbell Law. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion as a Super Lawyer and in Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite. Mr. Tessener has also been recognized as a Best Lawyer in America and as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer for North Carolina by the American Trial Lawyers Association.
