The Honorable Jane Powell Gray ’79

A resident of Cary, the Honorable Jane Powell Gray ’79 served as a District Court Judge for Wake County from 2002 until her retirement in 2012. She spent 19 years with the North Carolina Department of Justice Attorney General’s Office where she handled civil and criminal appeals, as well as serving as General Counsel for the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives. She was appointed to the state District Court bench in 2002, elected to the court in 2004, and re-elected in 2008. Gray earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1972 and a J.D. from Campbell Law School in 1979.
