Terry M. Brown Jr. is a 2015 graduate of Campbell Law School. A native of Fayetteville, he currently resides in Charlotte and serves as a State Representative in the N.C. General Assembly. He is also an attorney with Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney PC.
Brown is an experienced litigator who guides clients through complex commercial litigation, labor and employment law, and products liability issues. He also advises clients on internal investigations and corporate compliance. He has represented clients in state and federal court as well as in administrative hearings.
Brown began his legal career representing homeowners associations and commercial landlords in disputes with residents and tenants. Prior to joining Buchanan, he represented and advised clients on a range of liability issues, including professional liability, products liability and premises liability.
Brown’s work in the legal profession and Charlotte community has been frequently recognized. In 2019, he was named a Charlotte Business Journal “Forty Under 40″ recipient. Additionally, he was selected for inclusion in the 2018, 2021 and 2022 North Carolina Rising Stars® lists. In 2016, Brown was named a “30 Under 30” award winner by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce, and in 2017 he was named the UNC Charlotte Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year. He also uses his legal skills to serve the region on the City of Charlotte Zoning Board of Adjustment. Brown was also recognized by Best Lawyers in America Ones to Watch in 2022 and 2023 in the area of Commercial Litigation.
In addition to earned his J.D. from Campbell University in 2015, he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009 from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
