The purpose of the Death and Taxes organization is to provide students at Campbell Law School a forum to discuss and learn about developments in trusts and estates law and tax law, to serve as a resource for the local community, and to facilitate student public service within the estate planning and tax law fields. The Death and Taxes organization coordinates the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) pro bono project which began in 2013.
In recognition of their efforts, the group received the Outstanding Student Organization in Pro Bono and Public Service Award at the 37th Annual Law Day Celebration on March 22, 2014.
“My involvement with the organization has been really fulfilling, especially in regards to the pro bono projects that we’ve undertaken. I gained practical legal skills in the areas of law I’m interested in while having the opportunity to help others.”
